Radiant services
Prenatal Care
Prenatal care is held at the Radiant office or in your home (depending on location and needs). Appointments are up to an hour long, providing ample time for you to really share your experience and recieve the support you need. Appointments are geared towards assessing the whole person, with a focus on nutrition, emotional wellbeing, physical comfort, and support of the partner and family. At each session I assess your vital signs, any necessary lab work or screenings, fetal wellbeing, and preparation for birth and lactation. Around 36 weeks of gestation, I come to you for an in-home visit, during which we tour your space and discuss your vision for your birth. We will also cover our backup plan in the event of a necessary hospital transport.
Birth
When it comes to birth everyone is unique. Whether you like a lot of hands-on support or gravitate towords privacy, I work to guide you through your labor and birth in ways that fit you and your situation the best. My primary focus is on monitoring you and your baby in labor and attempting to make you as comfortable as possible, whether that be through hydrotherapy, massage, words of affrimation, or something else. Labor is hard work and I believe in your strength. If unexpected circumstances develop, I offer valuable information and recommendations for next steps and walk with you through this process.
Postpartum
Postpartum care is focused on rest and healing. I see you and your baby several times in the first week and then periodically until 6 weeks postpartum, at which time it is encouraged to initiate pediatric care for your newborn. This time is spent on lactation support, newborn care, and supporting your own body's healing process. I also believe that your community has a lot to offer you during this time and work with you on ways to achieve needed support. Please don't hesitate to ask about recommendations for additional resources.
Fees for service
Radiant Midwifery charges $5,500 for services. This includes the above mentioned care and availability to your primary midwife when needs arise. We are on call for your birth starting at 36-weeks and provide care for 6 weeks after your birth. We provide referrals as needed and are able to transfer records to facilitate collaborative care or a smooth transfer of care for additional needs. Clients are asked to pay the full fee prior to the birth, either in one lump sum or with an agreed upon payment plan. Radiant Midwifery is typically considered an out-of-network provider, however, your insurance may offer to cover a portion of the cost for the prenatal care and out-of-hospital birth services provided with a licensed midwife. We are happy to assist you in verifying your insurance benefits and to submit a claim to your insurance company after the birth of your baby. Radiant Midwifery also takes medicaid (Oregon Health Plan).
If you’re not sure about a home birth, but want the comprehensive and personal postpartum care that is provided by midwives, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d be happy to discuss how we could support you during this big transition.
